2 Old Friends & a Herd of Setters
The setters were as thrilled as the hunters to be afield, the aspen trees and soft cover of the ferns on the two track edges afforded good concealment for the three Woodcock that moved through the woods. One of the birds surprised us by seeking refuge ahead on the road. Though, a little disappointing not to beable to show Baby Zeb a Grouse, Spirits soared with the beginnings of Fall, the sunshine and the beauty of watching the setters work. The tinkle and clang of the bells brought an "all is right with the world" flow to the morning.

Working the edges of a two track on State Land, all the setters had a great workout. Several strong scents and a couple of Woodcock pointed but no shots yet. Saw one Grouse and several Woodcock on a very nice sunny morning. Being afield with the setters is happiness in itself-Woodcock Season opens Sat.
